Default Just saw Clarkson's Heaven and Hell DVD...

He said that the 612 Scaglietti was the best car of the year (obviously he made the DVD before driving the Veyron, but...) and he described it with such superlatives as "majestic, elegant, amazing, brilliant, powerful..."

Thoughts and Comments?

after-thought windshield wipers comes to mind (from the TG race to the alps by car, or by mass transit).... not typicla Ferrari style... it looks more like it came from Germany. beyond that, i dont have any complaints

Not a pretty Ferrari for sure, but haven't heard much bad about it. Just doesn't inspire me as a supercar :bah: not mad enough for one thing, for the price it should be a bit more "super" (bring on the big gay AL jokes )

I think its a highly underrated car... it got rave reviews from everywhere on its hadnling on performance and the only negative thing they had to say was that its styling was a bit wierd.

As a pure GT car that has lots of sportscar tricks up its sleeve, IMO its one of the best in the world.... just not too sure about tht styling

In the end its a 2+2 GT so I think its unfair to consider it a supercar despite its amazing performance.

For what it was designed as I think its nearly perfect, only the styling can be criticised but thats obviously objective. Personally I like the looks now after having seen quite a few of them....

The 612 might be a very good GT I'm sure, however I think its looks make it subject of discussion.

Anything that costs that much should be a bit more inspiring IMO :bah: and well it's just not, can't say I lust after it in the same way I do for most other Ferrari's

No doubt , it`s the perfect GT , with rather old lines , because you have many models with agressive lines , F430 and Enzo , the problem is from what angle do you look at the car , I`ve seen one in my country and it`s absolutely incredible , I was shocked to see the masterpiece rolling down the street

About dinamics , well in all tests that I managed to read , it smashed the competition in ALL areas , road holding , lane changeing , acc , braking , skidpad and so on.

If I had the money , then certainly I`ll own one.
It`s an incredible car .

Exacly.

However, I've grown on the styling; at first I wasn't convinced, but after seeing it more and more, I started to like it. Ok, the exterior isn't at the level of the 456, but the interior is one of the nicest ever, if you ask me. And all the rest about the car is more than excellent.

IMO, I think the styling will grow on us all eventually (similar to how the 550 Maranello did). In fact, the more I look at it, the more I see what Ferrari wanted to do with it. It's an understated Ferrari. It's not too flash, because it doesn't need to be. It's not aggressive, because it's not supposed to be (2+2 GT?).

I think Clarkson was on the money when he described it as elegant. That's what it is really.

Keep in mind that he said this after reviewing such cars (on the DVD) as the Maser Quattroporte, the Aston Martin Vantage, the DB9, etc.

I like it. I think I would definitely go w/ the Ferrari over the Bentley Continental or other GTs of such. Wouldn't it be nice to to making decisions like that . "Hmm, which one should I buy?"
