Spy Shots: New Mercedes CL-Class
Mercedes-Benz CL: Here are the latest photos of the new CL - out on final testing before its official unveiling early next year.
Safety: Although the CL will not get the recently-scrapped SBC brake-by-wire system, expect a very high level of technology and electronic aids, including lane departure warning, active "parameter" steering and the latest iteration of the Pre-Safe crash-sensing technology.
Engines: Engines for the new CL will be a 5.5-litre V8 (CL 550), the 5.5 V12 (CL 600) and the AMG 6.3 V8 (510bhp).
Platform: Based on the newly-launched S-Class platform, Mercedes' top-end luxury coupe retains its conventional long-booted two-door outline, keeping it distinct from the four-door CLS "coupe". This is one for the Merc traditionalists.

Looks very sleek. Nice that Mercedes has kept the sweeping roofline form.

I cant wait for the twin turbo version.... I bet it's going to sport at least 750bhp and 1500nm of torque.

Why do Mercedes think they need yet another car in there line up? The CL wasn't that good to start with so why bring it back?

I don't think the Meredes S class styling will look good having only 2 doors. And I agree with it being pointless have both the CLS and CL on the market. When the press was amazed with the concept vision CLS and Mercedes actually decided to put the car into production they should have ended the CL prodcution.

The CL is more about prestige, with a hugely luxurious interior, compared to the slightly more simplistic one of the CLS... It'll be priced similarly as well...
Personally, I'd like a current CL 65 over a CLS 55...

I remember that there have already been some PS pics around some month ago and it seems to look pretty much the same. Auto Bild (German Car Magazine) really does great PSs.

Definitely looks sleek, but there's no way to disguise the bulk of that vehicle....it's going to be enormous...
