How much torque has the RUF got? Just shows how much better engineered the porker is - considering how much faster it is with less grunt.

Thats at Bruntingthorpe UK btw

Look at that baby pull!

The guy who owns the RUF also owns an original 'Yellowbird' which is even faster.

I dont know about a 'well balanced' car being faster in a straight line, certainly a car with closer ratios that weighs less is just as fast as a big lazy heavy hugely powered barge.

Closer ratios = less top speed?

Depends if it revs higher....

Those cars were taking part in the Pistonheads VMax event I think...

He reached 202mph at the end of the straight on a different run (verified)..... the macca F1 has only been faster through the trap at bruntingthorpe.

From his data logger:

Notice hes still gaining 1.4mph per second at 200mph!

Closer ratios = less top speed

... and that RUF was damn fast!!
Closer ratio's means better acceleration, as long as it doesnt run out of revs then doesnt have a detrimental effect on top speed, which the RUF didnt appear to do.
That merc had very tall gears to im guessing that on the rev limiter in top gear (does it have 6 speed? maybee even 5!) it would be doing a fair bit more than 200 mph.
