I will repeat it, this awesome 610bhp FSI 5.0L biturbo engine was the original that you can found on the Le Mans quattro concept car revealed in Frankfurt 2003. Audi didn't want cannibalized the sales of Lamgorghini cars, this is the reason why this engine will not be offered in next R8.
The motorizations are known already:
1-Base model engine: V8 FSI 4.2L 420hp
2-Optional engine: V10 FSI 5.2L 500hp
Source: Quattro GmbH and everso

I think Audi should make a 610hp+ version anyways just to show everyone who owns who.

What makes audi even contemplate that the R8 will steal any sales from lamborghini? Not matter how good audi makes their cars, they have always been sensible... it lacks the drama that Lamborghinis offers (despite audi best effort to tame it). Which is why no supercar built by germans will be remembered 40 years down the road. Do you realise how boring a conversation at a... say posh dinner party will be if the say, "yeah i got a carrera GT, it's pretty reliable never broke down once, i've got it up to 200 hardly break a sweat." vs "yeah i got a countach, damn thing is a death trap, steering heavier than a pig, it cant even hit 150 without snapping a valve. i remember when the AC broke down in the middle of summer, felt like roast duck. but by god i love that car, in just a brief moment when everything works, it's heaven."
Plus the lamborghinis have always been beautiful, brute and mad all roll into one, the R8 looks like TT on steriods.

So you're saying that Audi R8 isn't as good as a Gallardo because it's German? Have you even seen a Gallardo? It's so sedate! It wasn't even designed by an Italian! And it was built by the Germans! Audi sales won't steal Lambo's only because people who buy Lambos aren't looking for Audis. I seriously think that the R8 looks better than the Gallardo. In fact, last time I checked, an Italian was heading the Audi design department.

I'm sorry if i somehow imply that I like the gayardo and I dont like the new murcielargo either. I rather have the diablo rather than any lambos under Audi. Easier to live with it is, but a true lamborghini it's not.
There's one german supercar that I like though, yeap you guessed it. It's outreagous, loud, totally impractical, unapologetic and focused. The GT1 is the perfect example of a supercar even though porsche never put it in mass production.

That's definatelly not true, Audi would definatelly wouldn't fit it with such an engine and create direct competition for a different car that belongs to the Audi motorcar group. At least not now until the Murcielago get's a solid power boost.
