Ok, my PC is slowly grinding to a hault. I am in a fairly fortunate position of having a mate who works in the industry and has offered to build me a PC at cost price in return for some advertising amungst some law firms.
He is going to base it on the above processor:

Obviously he knows a lot more than me, and he tried to explain, but it went over my head. But why is this processor worth £700??
What really shocked me is the price that he gets them for.............

Well, he will know for certain at the end of the month, but it won't be over £200!! Feck me what a mark up!
Again, can someone explain why this costs so much?
