I think GM and Ford own/run/control a huge amount of brands these days...

Yet they are both in financial trouble... All very interesting

maybe trying to monopolise one of the feircest (sp?) competing industries with a shit business plan and no solid ground to build from might have something to do with it.

I think ford will go first. Gm, while deeper in debt, has more assets and cash on hand.

^ 19 Billion in Cash, but with around 250 billion in debt.

If they do go into Bankruptcy, they'll file for protection and reorganized. So they'll be around for a while.

But they just started the latest rounds of price cuts "Red Tag Sale".

If any company's going to go under soon its going to be mitsubishi. The big american companies have created too much competition within their own brands I think. I mean GM has Chevy, GMC, and Cadillac that all make basically the same trucks.

^^ Youll find there are very few cross buyers between chevy and cadillac.. Gmc maybe, but I doubt youll find many cadillac work trucks.. In fact.. I dont think they even make a truck. They do make an suv, but that isn't generally cross shopped either.

the escilade based on the Avalanch... its still got a flat bed.

anyway; the latest news that is being pushed on the Unions on the GM front is to lower hire-in line workers starting rate to the area of $10/hour instead of $22/hour. bankrupcy will guarentee the unions will cave, and this would save GM a lot of money.

its because of this i think that GM will file for some protection first... or allow thier stocks to drop even lower as leverage against the unions.
