Default Video Capturing from Hi-8

Does anyone have any tips or program recommendations for capturing video from Hi-8 video? I have an adaptor that is RCA to USB, but I don't have software for it. My computer isn't the most powerful and is pretty old...so I need something pretty basic...if it's possible at all.

I'm heading to the track this Friday and hope to have lots of good stuff when I get back, that I hopefully can share...3 Porsche GT3s are going...and....and...a new E60 M5 that was picked up last week...!

Thanks in advance!

Borrow someons Firewire enabled Sony Digital8 Camcorder to capture the Hi8 footage.

If all else fails FedEx the tap to me and I will rip the raw footage for you. I'll put the big ass AVI's on a data DVD and you can go to town.

I do it with a Hauppage WinTv card, my camera is a Sony hi8 (trv series). Using windows moviemaker and capture my video's with an s-video cable at PAL resulution. Make the movies in 640x480 1,5mbps format.
