Default New VW 4 door coupe ('08 Passat) Updated

Dunno any real info on this car, but I do know that it will be competitor to the CLS Merc, it will be based on the new Jetta platform and it might be called the B6 Passat.

The current new 2005 VW Passat is called the B7 Passat so the next Passat Coupe 2008 model will be based on this same B7 platform. VW was mulling advanced plans to build 50,000 to 60,000 units a year of the new coupe and that it may chose its German plant in Dresden as the manufacturing site. Personally I like the idea of a Passat coupe.

Thanks for the pix vexor.

Word.

Two problems. Looks and badge are very important in the coupe market. The VW badge isn't that strong, and the design of this car - especially the back - is very uninspiring

It looks good front on but from the side it just looks like a sedan where as the CLS looks great from all corners I doubt that this will be very competetive against the CLS

Here are some new pics of the '08 Passat "coupe"

Volkswagen has publicly confirmed plans to build an upscale Passat with sleek coupe-like styling, but there's no need to wait for the 2008 models to see one - we have an artist's interpretation right here.

Volkswagen is planning to jump right in and take advantage of the popularity of the Mercedes CLS styling, and will offer their own German-built four-door coupe/sedan, codenamed "CC" at a far lower price.

The Passat Coupe isn't expected to be shown until the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, but details are already trickling out. Sources are telling us that the base engine on the coupe will be a four-cylinder with 150 horsepower; the top-of-the-line offerings will include a 280-horsepower 3.6-liter VR6 engine, and a 400-horsepower R36 turbocharged version. Hybrid versions are expected to follow shortly after the initial introduction.

The Passat coupe will be available with front-wheel drive or with the 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.

Damn those last ones loog great!...IMO VW has been making better cars lately, I know the Pheaton was a commercial flop, but it was a damn good car. The new passat looks really good as well, and their concept cars are looking better by the day...

I strongly believe that in time VW's image will change for the better...especially if they start producing these kind of cars.

This new 08 Passat "coupe" looks really good, especially the front end and the "CLS Style" roof arch.

The only element which I will like to have more information is the 400hp R36 biturbo engine.
