You're probly right about it being in the US version only. Back in the 80's the government liked to ruin Italian supercars by adding more bumpers and shit, like on 308's they extended the front and rear bumpers by like 10cm probably, looks terrible. Rules have been relaxed greatly, though, so now you won't notice any visual changes between US and Euro spec, except maybe with some reflectors/signal lights.

I dont think thats it. While they did do it to the 308, Ive never seen this treatment on a f40 in this country.
The article also mentions beautification work done at the dealership.
edit- its an f40 lm.

that site is full of beautiful pics
http://www.ferraris-online.com/index.shtml
just check the cars for sale and cars we sold sections, lots of detailed pics of Ferraris. It's a shame there are no high res pics.

Nice pics, But small res
Those black strips on the front and rear are part of US regulations for US delivered cars, i cant quite remember the reason, but there was a half valid reason for it.

There are 19 LM's.

it says F40 LM GTE, but you are saying they are wrong because it is only GTE instead of LM GTE?

No they are right (although I do think the correct term is just GTE), but you said it was an LM and I was pointing out it was infact a GTE - which is a different car to the LM.

^^^ Ok my mistake, I did the F40 GTE wrong by calling it "just" an F40 LM
So I edited my earlier post by adding a real LM and renaming the GTE link
