Default Jaguar XK Convertible

This is the new Jaguar XK Convertible. The 3-layer softtop opens or closes in lees than 18 seconds. The Jag has the 4.2 litre 295 bhp V8 under the bonnet, 0-100km/h in 6.3 seconds and a electronically limited topspeed of 250 km/h. Instead of all new cars presented these weeks, this car is not showed at the IAA of Frankfurt.

yes it is true but look at it's rivals.
mercedes sl500 4973cc v8 333 hp 0-100km/h: 6.3sec
bmw 645ci 4398cc v8 333 hp 0-100km/h: 6.1sec
i think jag isn't slow. 6.3 sec is good for 295 hp car.

Drop top jags are always sexy, but this one tops anything by aston or ferrari looks wise IMO, that takes some doing to! Unfortunately with the roof up like a lot of convertables its looks a bit awkward IMO but still just drive it when its sunny and get wet

audi cranks out 414 out of a 4.2 V8 and jaguar only manage to get 295?

that's insane... give the car atleast 50 bhp more and it will be decent, 100 would be even better

hehe

http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/n...s_xk.91425.htm
more info and pictures.

there will be sc version with about 400hp, so all is not that bad for jag, and also v12 is possible.

true...i agree with that
but there's one thing not right with this car.....
the rear looks like a ford, and i'm afraid they use the materials from the ford models too in the interior. and it looks a bit like an aston martin honestly...
(thesame designer from aston) 4.2 litres and 290 bhp??!!
my lada can do better than that (6.3 secs.)!

Well, I've been able to sit on one of the final prototype versions, and I didn't noticed any Ford buttons or cheap plastics, expect for the trim around the J-gate (or L-gate in this case), but prolly was cause this was not a production model. There could be some Ford originated buttons in the car, but I didn't noticed any on first sight, and I've pushed a lot of them to test them. The overal quality feel was ok. But I would prefer a more 'old fashion' interior for a Jaguar.

This is very true, considering most of the Entry German V8s will be gettign power boost soon. We already have the BMW 4.8 now the standard over the 4.4, and Mercedes is supposed to be bumping the HP in the 5.0 to 360 or something around that level.

Any word on an R Version? They should use a V10 or a V12 for the R version, maybe a detuned DB9 engine, say 420 HP?
