The Cat Is Back 2007 Jaguar XK
On August 26, 2005 Jaguar North America revealed details of its eagerly anticipated new sports car – the all-new 2007 Jaguar XK.
Making its world premiere next month at the Frankfurt International Auto Show in Germany, the all-new Jaguar XK will go on sale in North America next spring as a 2007 model year product.
The all-new Jaguar XK is the first of a new generation of cars that reflect the best of everything that Jaguar is associated with – from gorgeous, contemporary design to renowned craftsmanship and quality, alongside the latest
driver-focused technologies – and, of course, exhilarating performance.
Light and agile, the all-new Jaguar XK accelerates faster, stops quicker than the previous generation, steel-bodied XK8 and has exceptional dynamic abilities, as Jaguar's Chief Engineer Mike Cross, explains: "The XK may be the epitome of sporting elegance but it is also a true driver's car in which we have managed to combine a very special balance of superb driving dynamics and comfort."
Traditional Jaguar craftsmanship elements have been retained on the all-new Jaguar XK, but it's the use of aerospace technologies that have resulted in the most technically advanced Jaguar production car ever created.
One of the key elements of the all-new Jaguar XK is the use of latest technologies including Jaguar’s industry-leading aluminum body structures and rivet bonding techniques, both recently introduced in the construction of Jaguar's full-size XJ sedan. Both techniques make the XJ sedan significantly lighter and stronger than its competitors, which benefits handling and fuel economy.
Jaguar design director Ian Callum describes the XK as having 'clean lines, a purposeful stance and exquisite proportions'.
"The fundamental values of Jaguar design do not change," explains Callum. "We took influences from our heritage and evolved them to produce a car that is beautiful, visually fast yet undeniably modern – just as Sir William Lyon's (Jaguar founder) own designs were in their day."

Stats:
4.2L V8 300BHP (no torque figures as of yet)
0-60mph in 5.9 sec
top speed 155mph (limited)
Quater mile 14.4
weight 3500lb
RWD with 6-speed auto
well i suppose it was about time, the old XK8 has been fending off the turf for years
still another stunner by jaguar (and just when i was worried about running out of fresh desktop images)

Mm, yes we like!
what suprise me is the 300 bhp from a 4.2l V8... isn't that quite weak for a motor that big?

Yes, I think the engine is week, but there will of course be a XKR with more grunt. I would estimate 450 bhp?
Looks a lot like the last concept, but without some of the fancy details. (Not surprisingly?) My first impression is that those lights are a mistake. Apart from that the car is elegant with it's clean lines. Beautiful, but a bit too boring? Or am I too picky???

Absolutely gorgeous.
On the downside, the value of our car will go down when this is released!

I agree with anyone and everyone who said that it's dull. Because it is. Absolutely uninspired.

I like the looks of it. I think Jaguar and Aston Martin coupé's are improving style-wise since they're being owned by Ford (Ford's still don't though just look at the new Focus). But we've allready seen pics of this car half a year ago and now it seems it's only going to be launched in 2007. IMO that's a marketing blunder, the magic and newness is over by 2007 you know. They're making the same mistake with that AMV8.
Oh and one more thing, I really hope it's not going to be heavier then they announced.

When I look at the car I don't think "Jaguar"; I think Hyundai or Kya. And that's not a good thing.

If you look at the lights then maybe yes. but study the car on a whole, the shape and lines are classic XK, a flowing evolution of the e-types curves. It only looks slightly like a hyundai because hyundai amalgomated the design features of the best looking coupes and sports cars around when they made the Coupe. Theres bits of ferrari 456 thrown in, and the shape is knicked from an xk. the name itself is hardly unique, its the most base generic term for that style of car, nothing about it is original, and simply because it is newer than the previous XK doesn not mean the 2007 version has copied hyundai design cues.
Its an evolution from the 97' XK, which itself has a bloodline right back to the E-type when the likes of hyundai were still sitting on their hands staring at a wall, and when kia had only got round to making pushbikes.
It looks like classic jag through and through, and i think its drop dead gorgeous.
