Saw this GT2 today....i think its the new model since the rims are different.

Its still a 996, the rims are an option in the Porshe tuning range, the 997 GT2 wont be around for a long time, if ever, because the 997 range wont last long before the 998 range is introduced.

And I think he just means the latest 996 GT2 version, wich has those GT3 style rims fitted stock since 2005 I think!

The mk2 was introduced in summer 2003 here so the first ones were probably delivered in 2004

Yep, the GT2 is already an old car just good to be collected and stocked beside some old elvis vinyls

Nice sighting. I never saw one with the GT3 rims.
