F1 Drivers Are A Bunch of Midgets!
My god man, I just remebered from the drivers parade in Montreal 1 week ago that the drivers are a bunch of friggen midgets! The only tall one seemed to Schumi, all the rest......midgets!
Is it just me or are the drivers that short?

Think most of them are rather short. That's of course an advantge when your'e body is under such a heavy load as a F1 race. Can compare it to fighterpilots.
Think Webber is the tallest one in F1 at the moment..

to fit in the car proferly u ahve to be a midget .. lol ...
sooo there really is one good reason of being a midget .. lol
f1 drivers look tall cuz the car is soo small
and no fighter pilots are of all shapes and sizes

Could be a career for our Tom then
As for what Saadie said about fighter pilots - this is very true, all shapes and sizes, but within upper and lower limits. It is a particular issue where Ejection seats are concerned - the seat has to work for both a 1xx lb woman and a 2xx lb male - there is a fine line between getting the pilot out of the cockpit safely and damaging his spine as the explosives go off to launch the seat out of the cockpit.
Also, as F = M x A, and thus acceleration relative to the mass of the pilot if force is constant, the lighter pilot will eject quicker than the heavier pilot, so you also need to make sure that the canopy is blown out of the way in time. Milliseconds really do matter!
Pilots (certainly UK ones anyway) have to retire after 3 cockpit ejections due to the damage it does to the spine.

^^ hey hey!!! :fist: (my first finger here in JW )
I'm 172cm!! and I'm "normal" here
Tom will be taller than me in a couple of years
back with the topic, most drivers are around 170cm, I don't really know a reason, but remember Justin Wilson, who didn't fit in a F1 car
and with fighter pilots, it depends on each country, here it would be really stupid to ask for persons taller than 170, which is the limit
I'm guessing that in Sweden, etc they ask for ppl at least 180cms

Only with platform shoes and stilts Would you count it if one midget got on another's shoulders and was taller than you? Maybe Tom could team up with someone in the paddock

Ooops ops:
I was just going by the Hispanic guys I see here - most are shorter than I and stockier. Stockier means broad across shoulders and chest BTW.
Sorry for generalising dude

but you're saying the truth... hispanic or latin ppl have a natural tendency to be shorter because of the surroundings and feeding habits
Right now I'm in a place where 70% of ppl come from indians, native ppl from pre-columbine times, and men are 160cms. Imagine women, most are 140-150 cms tall
and I'm short and stocky
