Default Bugatti Veyron....

Just picked up the most reascent Motor trend. Looks like the Veyron will be on the released later this year! I know there has been a lot of speculation about the performance but the numbers Bugatti is quoting are astonishing. I'm sure everyone has heard 0-60 in under 3 seconds. The ones that really impress me are 0-124mph in 6.0 seconds and 0-186 mph in 14. I'm sure it won't handle as well as an Enzo or a CGT, and will probably be hard pressed to beat them around a track but my god thats fast! Anyone else have any info?

According to the CAR, it will have more than 1001bhp to compensate for weight. I'll more likely to have 1100bhp or sorts.

So it will be just a little slower than the hundreds of Twin Turbo Vipers and Z06's running around our roads here.. hehe

Frankly i think the Veyron is going to be a useless car. Ungodly price tag for unusable power. I even take issue with the SL55 and 600 power levels

It seems that 0-186 will be in more than 17s now ( I think I read it in CAR or Car And Driver) but anyway, very impressive numbers as they target 0-60 mph in 2.8 s ...
I remember 6 month ago, a lot of people said that it wouldn't happen Now I think everybody is convinced it will arrive 8)

The epitomy of what a supercar should be . This car is where all the other supercars should be if they kept upping the horsepower over the years. I realize horsepower isn't everything but you know VW put it's millions into this car to give it the ability to out turn any other production car on the road as well as out accelerate it. The price tag brings Buggatti exclusivity as well as VW/Audi top of the line engineering and know how. This car will be the best of the best.

P.S. - Someone had to say it since Everso is gone!

I like the Idea of making something as crazy as the Bugatti Veyron, just for the hell of it, cuz they will not make money of it probably but it will be a awsome sight to see one going full throttle......
I totally second that And I can't wait to see if it really out-accelerate all the existing supercars I am sure Bugatti will want to prove its claims and will enable some magazine to verify its accelerations ...

Well I lean on 5th gear and Plato when I say this Plato couldnt find one good thing to say about the srt10 and it beat the vette on a 3 lap race.......
So 5th Gear has tested many Twin Turbo Vipers and Twin Turbo Z06's then?

i agree with others, i love the fact that it has so much power and such a high price tag... thats what i want a "supercar" to be. i want to be able to see it a few times and go crazy each time, not think to myself: "Oh, there goes another one."

i see what you guys are saying about supercars and extreme power..but 1000+?

The Ferrari's, Lambos are killer and all but their power levels don't raise reliability concerns. Of course, these cars will probably be garaged and never driven so it doesnt' really matter.

I dunno, maybe there is another reason i'm not a fan of it, but there's just something about it that doesn't sit right with me

I think because of the continual delays that it is starting to become unbelievable, even now that it seems to be in the final stages before production. It seems that for as long as I have known about cars the Veyron has been hovering on the horizon. I just hope that if it does launch then it will do so with a bang and not a whimper. How about an official press launch at which it not only breaks the record acceleration times but also the smashes the top speed record??? It would put them on just about every news broadcast around the globe

I think everyone agrees that it's going to be very very very very fast in a straightline, but a lot of people aren't convinced that it'll handle. I'm still undecided. But let's not forget that Loris Bicocchi, the guy who tuned the handling for the Zondas, and Koenigseggs (and possiblty the Bugatti EB110, I'm not sure), is also responsible for the handling of the Veyron.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

You should know. You drive a Corvette, don't you?

The Veyron is outrageous in every way. It's a Bugatti and that's what it's supposed to be.
