Same here, but it's got to be done. My neighbour is an idiot. He couldn't help but rev the shit out of his M Roadster when he got it and consequently fucked the engine. Must have cost him a packet to put right. Muppet :roll:

so i guess the official countdown has begun? I can't wait. I asked one of our salesmen again wether we had any ordered and he said we didn't which goes against what i heard earlier of 2 being ordered, which makes sense because we have 2 E39 M5 customers already..so i guess we just have to wait and see

How many actual cycles should all these parts need to bed in? This is like 2,500,000 revolutions over a 5000km trip at 60km/h - correct?

That is standard for all M engines. There is a 1200 mile service where the engine and differential fluid are replaced. before that max RPM is 5500 and max road speed is 105. It's really nothing if you think about it since the standard warranty is 4 years 50,000 miles.

3100 miles without launching or hammering the clutch with program 5 and 6 isn't that bad RC. Considering the fact that most of these people will probably never use program 6 anyway :roll:

Well, since they hopefully serve you coffee, wash your car and let you have a loaner if the service takes too long - I guess the price of $90 - 100,000 comes with an entire "package" that makes the entire experience worth the ntry price.

Still doesn't exlain why they need 5000km to break the car in. Perhaps that's why so many M cars come up for sale used at a cople thousand miles - the drivers have flogged the piss out of em and trying to unload them before th enext service..

5000km is too much, I agree. I barely lasted 1200 miles before I started going fast... that sucker gonna have to wait a lot!

Mercs on the Supercharged AMGs are 1500 Miles and nothing over 80, nor going into sport mode, and RPMs should never go above 3500. Then again by the time you break the merc engine in 3 things will have already broken. but 3100 miles is alot, but atleast nothing will break.

shit for that price it should have a break in mode programmed into it just like all the other modes especially Launch Control.

I really couldn't tell you why this is on the M5 because the S85 is a new engine and they've probably done something different with the engine. My foreman just got back from the new engine technology class so i'll flip through his book to see if it's covered.

There is probably a good reason for it, i just don't know it at this point in time
