So i took the plunge.... i bought a wireless router.

It has one wired PC to it, and a wireless laptop at the moment. The net works fine on both of them, but i want to set up file sharing etc... on them, by creating a workgroup.

I have this problem though, when i try to access the laptop from the PC

How do i get permission to use the source???

PS.... i'm a bit of a n00b, so please make it easy to understand.

I'm a bit in a hurry, but in the Control panel, in the Administrative Tools, Secuity policy, I think there is an option for that!

Unfortunately there is no security Policy under the admin tools. Thanks for the input though.

BTW - Using XP Home on the Laptop and XP Pro on the desktop

You have created a peer-to-peer network. Now you have to create and maintain matching accounts on each device.

And the share out resources on each using these like named/passworded accounts.

Yes - user accounts... for simplicity, just set the admin passwords on the 2 systems the same

I still get the same error as in the first message when trying to connect to ht eLaptop via the PC in the first screenie.

When i even try to view the Workgroup computers n the lapop, i get an error saying "Mshome is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available."

Go to control panel, then right click network connections, scroll to then select properties.
at the top you should see a tab on the right that says advanced, select that and remove the check mark from the internet connection firewall box. do this on both computers, then make sure they both connect to the internet independantly and you should not have a problem lemme know if that works for ya if not ill try my best to help.
