Default Just a little Veyron Update

From Bugatti
Molsheim, 01 March 2005 - The development procedures adopted at the start of 2004 for the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 are on schedule. Four exceptional sports cars are still involved in endurance test runs and fine-tuning. In parallel, production of pre-run models has begun at the studio in Molsheim, France. Start of production of the pilot lot is planned for the beginning of May. The relevant processes are ready for the start of production.

The technical data of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 mark an unprecedented level in series production. The superlative sports car is fitted with an 8.0 I W16 engine, 64 valves and four turbochargers. It has an output of 1001 PS (736 kW) and a maximum torque of 1,250 Nm (127mkp) at 2,200 rpm. The two-seater made of high quality light-weight material will reach a top speed of over 400 km/h.

The first Bugatti Veyron 16.4 will be handed over to an exclusive clientele in the second half of 2005.

Also in this months evo. From an interview with Thomas Bscher:

"We've succeded in cutting 150kg from the car's weight. Its impossible for us to give an exact target figure, but somewhere between 1900 and 1990kg is very likely"

So no lightweight then!

Fuck me, nearly two tonnes, I knew it would be heavy, but not that heavy.

Which gives it a power to weight ratio of just over 500hp.... which is erm, well make up your own mind

Its 1000ps, which is "only" 987bhp.

So bhp/tonne is 496-506

Mclaren F1: 560
Konigsegg CC8S: 566
Konigsegg CCR: 694!!
Zonda F: 610

lol, indeed, and although the acceleration times from the 4WD and huge low down torque will be quite impressive, you're definately going to feel all that weight in the corners. Especially as lots of weight + 4WD is definately a recipe for understeer

Compared to everything else in the league it's trying to join, that car is going to be shite. I can't believe how heavy it is, apparently it carries 150kg in fluids alone - the price you pay for 4 turbos, 987hp is a lot of heat! Ferrari must be pissing themselves laughing...

holy shit: 1,250 Nm!!! (921.953 lb-ft!!!)
that right there is one mighty impressive number.

you're probly all right about the weight ruining the handling, but with that much torque i bet you could steer with the gas pedal

DANG! So its 1900kg, after losing 150kg! That's fucking nuts, this car is just too damn heavy. It doesn't matter how much hp and trq they give it, its still going to be crap in the corners with that much mass...give me a McLaren F1 or a CGT over this lump of iron anyday!

who cares, its built like a tank and about as sporty as a blue whale.. not too bad if all you want to do is try to go fast around nardo or down the unrestricted autobahn but absolutely useless as soon as a corner appears

what a bunch of crap. So they did not get their 1001 hp target and they post figures using PS to trick people into thinking they wanted 1001 ps instead of hp.

So heavy, so ugly looking, and still a piece of shiet car. I feel sorry for the guy getting one already, I gues he paid for a creamy cake before he tasted it actually is a piece of shit with wip cream on top.

Are you telling me you cant believe they cant extract an extra 20bhp from an 8.0l engine? British magazines have a tendancy to use their numerical version of Horsepower while Germans use their PS. The car has 1001 PS which many people see as 1000bhp which ever way you look at it.

Althought this car is a engeniering archievement in every way.
The car was meant to be heavy because of his luxury interior and that dificults even more the archievement of performance figures like 400km/h,fast acceleration or even good dynamics.
The tecnology gain in this project will be very useful for future really hardcore supercars.
