B7 / S55

Price: 111000 Euro / 118784 Euro

0-100km/h 4.6 / 4.8 sec
0-160km/h 9.5 / 10.3 sec
0-200km/h 14.9 / 15.8 sec

60-120km/h 2.2 / 2.4 sec
80-120km/h 2.6 / 2.8 sec

Brakedistance 100km/h-0 (hot) 36,1 m / 37,4 m

Score: 3514 points / 3348 points

Conclusion:
"The synthesis from drive, comfort and driving dynamics succeeded particularly harmoniously with it. Alpina redeems the promise to be smaller, but fine manufacturers fully."

Autocar

B7 / S65
bhp 493 604 bhp
lb ft 515 737 lb ft
weight 1970 2220 kg
power/weight 250 272 bhp/tonne
0-30 2.2 2.6 secs
0-60 4.8 5.4 secs
0-100 10.5 10.4 secs
0-150 27 23.4 secs
qtr mile 13.1/113 13.3/116 secs/mph
km 23.9/143 23.3/150 secs/mph
top speed 186 155 mph

- ALPINA doesn't just make good cars, it improves on some of the best.

- B7 hits 60mph in 4.8sec, in the wet; feelsome steering and adept, precise handling.

- Ride better than the B7's, but S65 feels detached and handling isn't as good.

Autocar is also pointing out that that the S65 is too expensive and too powerful e.g. only really starts using it's full power after 100mph. It also points out that it is only fractionally quicker than the S600 between 100 and 150mph (13secs vs. 13.6secs).
Autocar liked the B7 better and it won the comparison.

alpina is more passionate on making the cars turn. whereas amg just stuffs a bigger engine in it, stiffer springs, no manual box, and does so to every car. b7 wins every day.
