crap...thats going head to head with the M5  same power/displacement for less money...bmw is NOT going to like this. Lexus is the one company ahead of BMW in terms of overall CSI, and i don't think this will help much. Especially if they don't speed-restrict the car

^ouch, very good point. (what's CSI tho?) should b some good competition

That's a very good looking car IMO. Sweet design - that rear end is very unique too. High power V10 in a lexus i think is a first - good to see them taking some bold steps

Can't wait to see how this pans out.

Oh, and that derestricted 200mph top speed - that's a huge burner to bimmer.

I think this will absolutely be a beast. I do still have qualms about the styling, but there's definitely no chance of confusing this car with something else. Since the M5 is a 4door I think this is more of a direct competitor to the upcoming M6. If its unrestricted that'll be a major advantage

I find this quote funny though:
It’s a Lexus, so it has to be the best and that means being the fastest, safest, and also the most emotional.
I like Lexus, but "the most emotional"? This car might have some soul, but last time I checked the rest of the Lexus lineup didn't...

CSI= Customer Satisfaction Index

well, they did say that they were going to give it the same amount of cylinders as the F1 car, so if 2006 or 2007 move over to V8s then it will be a competitor to the 645Ci i think, but then again the 645 is a mass produced road going Coupe, unintended for supercar status. so, it may end up being an early competitor for the E90 M3 which will more than likely be an '08 model, given BMW's M introduction pattern.

nice point zfrks62, but will be interesting the answer of Bmw,

about this car, the price is very good for the specs, but the design dont like me, i think the looking of the toyota supra is better than lexus design

£80k is more like $160k on the road. The E60 M5 is £65k, and the M6 is going to range from £68-75k. That's for "a bmw".

But £80k for a Lexus? No thanks.

If its prized like the M5 and Specs are same as M5, still people will get the M5

a BMW badge is better than a Lexus one. If this is cheaper than the M5, houston, we got a problem!

i saw bmwmpowers price as 80,000USD, but it turns out 80,000 GPB is 180K USD. the M5 will be about 90K USD. So, i doubt this thing is going to be as big a competitor as i thought.

It's gonna need at bit more horsepower, and be a lil bit lighter (if possible) to have the best time on the Nordschleife, esp if they want to beat the CGT.

Should be interesting to see what they put out. Reminiscing of when Honda put out the NSX. Definitely an interesting project. Let's hope it comes to fruition.

And with Honda coming back to F1's winning ways. Maybe they will resuscitate the NSX as well.

^^I'd rather see honda do something more like the S2000, than the NSX. Maybe a more hardcore coupe S2000, with a little bit more hp, maybe a turbo stock. That'd be tight.
