Just accept the loss and take it like a man
Two amazing car nevertheless.

Edit: Why the 5-speed auto and not the 7G-tronic in the Merc?

I agree with them both being amazing cars, but wouldn't "taking it like a man" be taking the sportier car.

Agreed. I'm suprised how 0-60, and the braking tests @ 39meters are identical. also, did they post the slalom results? i don't understand why these reviewers don't post things like 80-120; other tests that are just as an accurate reflection of a cars ability?

For those unaware, as was the case with numerous other VOX car videos, this test was based on the auto motor und sport magazine test (heft 23 - 27 Oktober, 2004).

Regarding their conclusions, keep in mind that in some parts of Germany, AMS is known as 'auto Mercedes und sport'. Please note the emphasis on Mercedes and the separation between it and sport...

I'm pretty confident that once Autocar figures both cars, you will see more separation in acceleration between them, even at the lower speeds.

Regarding someones question on why the 5 spd. auto for the Merc. I believe it has to do with the max. torque rating for the 6 spd. was insufficient for the blown V8.

Mercedes doesn't have 6-speed autos.. And from what I've heard the 7G-tronic is going to be available in the supercharged AMG-versions.
