Default Ferrari FQC: Drive Through The French Quarter

The last day was possibly the most exciting...! We drove down to the French Quarter early so we wouldn't miss anything, and the police motorcycles were already blasting down the street in the opposite direction closing off streets... We parked and could hear them revving the engines, and I knew there was no chance they were going to be a taking it easy, they were serious. 8)

The 360 with the light-bar was the leader of the pack, and started off with a nice burnout...and I believe he either had straight exhaust, or very close to it because he was loud at the track and loud as shit with the sound echoing off of buildings and such. He went all out, and so did most of the cars behind him...by the time they (the first cars) got to where I was standing most of the cars were doing what seemed like 50-60mph!

All (between 75 and 100 :shock of the cars passed pretty quickly, and then we made a run for the next street (they were looping up and down the streets) and they were almost half passed by the time we got there. We made another dash for the next street and they were held up a little bit, so I could take some better pictures, but it was all in a rush. They went up one more street, and I got there before the first car came...just in time to see the lead 360 do a burnout, then the Diablo GTR do a burnout, and then an Enzo do a slight burnout, it was awesome and I really wish I had a video camera...the sound was amazing!

It was pretty hard to take pics because the cars were going so fast and its a digital camera so its not instantaneous...oh well, I think some of the pics look cool.

On a side note...there were a couple of Maseratis in the pack...and daaamn does that V8 sound like a beast!

For anyone who wants to see more pics, check out this FChat thread: FQC pics

Dang too bad the pics are so blurry you needed either a slightly faster shutter speed or to follow the car (I mean, keeping it in the center of the image) while taking the pic!

They could have been terrific!! but thanks for the effort!

I like those pics even though they're a little blurry!
Don't know why but I think the yellow Impreza looks best!

It must have been amazing to see all those Ferrari's, Maserati's and Lambo's passing by or was there only one Diablo? anyways

Too bad you didn't have a video camera. A video would have been amazingly cool

Sad the pics are so blurry. If they weren't you'd have shot some terrific ones. But the ones when they were driving slow are standing still are still nice

The problem of the pics are not the fast cars.. in most of them the brackground is also blurry. What kind of camera do you have, an SLR?

Damn, you guys are a harsh bunch.

I apologize for the blurry pics...I'm not a pro (obvious)...its my fault the pics are blurry...meh.

I was standing there waiting for a good while...and then they suddenly all just took off, and all 75-100 cars passed in about 3 min...I'm surprised you can even make out the cars in most of the pics. Between the delay of a digital camera and the number of cars passing it was very difficult to take pics, sorry guys. I should have fooled with the settings on the camera before hand, but by the time I realized they would be flying by at 40+mph it was too late...

It really sucks that I didn't have a video camera, but whatever...next year.

You guys should check out FrenchQuarterClassic.com, they have a really good group of guys making the DVD, this year's should be great.

Hmm...just doing some reading on FChat...and apparently some of the cars were hitting close to 100mph in the French Quarter...

Here are some other interesting things I have read:

-a certain F40 hit 205...Enzo & Diablo GTR both went above 200 on the way to the track

-NOPD had over 100 motorcycle cops working FQC

-NOPD closed 4 miles of I-10 so the group could play

If anyone hasn't had enough pics of Ferraris yet, http://www.pbase.com/cvbjr/ffqc_v_track_day
