The car is definetely a replica. There is an entire website dedicated to its construction. It's running a Turbocharged Lexus V8 of significantly larger displacement than the 2.9L unit in the original car. You can see some of the differences between the replica and the real thing if you look closely. For instance, the roof is a bit too long and squared-off...the rear deck is also a bit too long, as is the nose. The engine doesn't sound like the raucous clattery V8 in the real F40, but like a more cultured, dare I say it, American V8 out of some muscle car.
