That's war, its always ugly.

BTW, how did he managed to aim like that, is it laserguided or a heatseeker?

And I think its in Chechnya(or something like that)

The chopper looked like a cobra But I don't think the russian army uses cobra's...

I also found it weird that the chopper didn't spot them

Weren't they like next/under some trees? So it must be pretty hard to spot them from the helicopter. Though I don't know what kind of radar devices and such they have in those helicopters.

The scenery, the outfits and the helicopters made me think more of Tsjetsjenian rebels.

Yeah but it isn't cowardly to sit behind a big desk on a comfortable seat and send bombs all over?

Don't get me wrong. I think terrorists are shit too.. BUT I could say the same thing about americans (George W. Bush) thinking they own the world and they're the king of everything.

Or um talk as if you know something about Foreign policy or Pol-Pot style governments, which are so great!, and we should seek peace and love not war! Bad War bad...come to grips with reality

On a side note this is a giant misunderstanding of culture coupled with erroroneus policy

Yes it's in Chechnya.

The man-portable SAM is a SA-14 GREMLIN (Strela-3 9K34) :The SA-14 has a maximum range of 4500 meters, and a maximum altitude of 3000 meters.

The first helicopter is a Mi-17 [Mi-8MT] HIP H. The helicopter who was shot down is probably a Mi-28 HAVOC or a Mi-24 HIND.

during Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, America gave the Taliban lots of stinger missiles for the express purpose of shooting down Soviet helicopters. the stingers were so effective, flying in a helicopter became the most dangerous thing a Soviet soldier can do.
