Default More than 2 devices (Master & Slave) to an IDE cable?

On my main rig I currently have 2 hard drives and a DVD writer/reader and CD writer/reader. I want to hook up a third hard drive and a DVD drive. I can't see anyway to do this. All the cables that I have seen or know of only allow one master and one slave to be hooked up on a single IDE cable. Do they make a cable that would allow two slaves to be attached?

ummm, you prolly don't know much about computer hardware, a IDE bus only supports 2 device.

So what your best option rite now is to buy a IDE cardbus (plugging it into ur PCI slots if you have one avaliable). They cost 35 bucks canadian.

Given the fact that you have so many device in one box, u might want to check your power supply and make sure it is at least 350W.

Yes check the power supply , or get a new MOBO , the new ones support SATA and 4 ATAS

Thank You for the replies. I am far from a newb when it comes to comp hardware and assumed this was the case but have never had to deal with it first hand. My power supply is far from an issue.

check how many IDE slots you have, i'm guessing you only have two. if you want a dvd burner then you can only put one more HD

Hey Minacious, you know it's frowned upon in California to label something as 'master' and 'slave'. I'm telling A'hnold.
