Default New Speed Camera

Just saw the news that there will be a new kind of speed camera in Australia.

This type of camera had also been started in Taiwan.

It is to look like a rubbish bin.

Dude, they've had those for ages, and according to our laws, you can't hide speed cameras, you have to warn the motorist. So whoever told you we're getting them is a fruit.

I used to kick those bins all the time back home. What if some of them were speed cameras? Imagine the damage caused.

Strange - those pictures have made it all around the internet.

I originally saw them when they were claimed to be images of a speed trap in a New Orleans suburb.

Now they are from Taiwan?

I am sure they are legit, I saw the story on the news (ch 7 for those in OZ ), found these pics on a taiwan forum

the law is the same in Australia (I think), that you have show there are speed cameras in use (three continuous signs).

BUT I have never seen a sign next to a cop with a radar gun. (very sure)

Do you get what I mean? The law is there for a FIXED camera, these would be considered MOBILE (i think).

look at the pic again, the car is driving on the wrong side of the road

also there is a law for posting a warning sign for mobile police cars but doesn't say where they have to put it. so basically they could put it behind a tree.

seen something about that before..

goes to show they are just out to make money from them.

anyone hear about the new speed camera... i shit you not;
it takes a photo of you're licance plate and records it at one point, then at a second point say 4km down the road takes another picture of you, and works out the average speed you traveled between the 2 points, and if you where exceeding the speed limit (even by 3km.. so basicley u cannot overtake) you get a fine

- what a fucking joke!

I feel so sorry for you guys. I live in Canada and we don't have speed cameras.....yet.

We had them a few years ago but they were shut down one year after they were put up.

Now the government seems to be happy with placing red-light cameras everywhere. It's all to make money, even though they say it's all about safety.
It's mostly drunk drivers running red lights here, if you're drunk I don't think you're gonna care if you're running a red light. I just don't see how it makes other drivers safe.

Cheers

I think "stracing" is right about the signs for a mobile police cars, but I have NEVER seen any cop with a sign.

Look at the Gumball videos and you will know that no cop in whichever country had any sign to warn the drivers. (otherwise non of the gumballers would have got any tickets)

These rubbish bin speed cameras will work by placing two adjacent cables on the road a few meters in front, it will measures the speed by how fast it took the car to cross each cable. I am sure all of you have seen it.

So they film every car then ? Or is it digital with OCR determining your license plate?

Is this a freeway with no exit in the 4km stretch?
