I don't think it's a prototype or a test car, just one of the first E60 M5 that have just been built in order to "give" them to magazines or TV programs like TopGear ...

the first new M5 E60 will arrive to Sweden in november so the car is ready. At the moment BMW is trying out a 7 speed manuelgearbox, SMG is only available at the moment.
