What all is on that S4? I dont think it did all that well. Two or three mods on that WRX STI and it would of been just as fast if not faster.

Okay I need some help regarding information on STi
I live in India, and Subaru is not offcially available here, so there are a few dealers who import all these cars here.
There is a Subaru Impreza STi, but the dealer says it is 225 bhp. Now I thought all STis had either 280 or 300 horses. And the Type UK has 265 horses. Now if I am wrong could someone correct me. Or is there a way to check whthr is it just a WRX or an actual STi and not some STi kit or something? I took a test ride and it was wicked. Seemed very fast and sounded pretty good too. Now the Dealer also says it is imported from UK but there are no Type UK stickers anywhere.
I'd appreciate some help on this, coz I know someone who's interested in buying it and cars like these arent available here. So cant confirm it locally..

The regular WRX has 227 hp. That must be what you drove. Look at the registration papers to verify if it is a true STI

Thank you Sameer. I'll look into it. But there isnt any other way to check right? in the Interior or by opening the hood and seeing? Coz regarding the Registration Papers / Manual and stuff he doesnt let anyone see unless he's assured that the buyer is genuine. He is insisting it is an STi and says it is 225 BHP. So that is not possible right?
Anyway thanks again, would love to hear more on this. And sorry for going Off Topic. The link doesnt seem to work for me!

Walk away from this guy! He seems too shady to me! What's is the big deal in showing the papers to this car.

I am not an STi owner so cant give you the inner tips to watch out for. But with the plethora of STi parts availabe it is possible to fake an STi using a regular WRX. Look at the Subaru website to see pictures of the car --> but watch out for fakes carrying similar parts.

The STi sold in Europe and Japan is different from the Sti sold in US ---> the US car is a 2.5l while the other is 2.0l. So you need to identify which market the car is from.

Also you can PM JW user RAMAN. He has a US STi.

Refer to some Subaru specific discussion groups for better info here.

Cool Sameer, Thank you for the info, I am going to the dealer tomorrow, will keep everything u said in mind.. And will also hunt the Web for Fake Parts and stuff.. It is quite possible it being a fake because he is renouned for cheating, but he's the only one who has it for sale so lets see!

This video has been out a while. I think I've had it for at least a year.

I would wholly expect an S4 with those mods to do that to a stock STi. The stock STi(US Version) has 300HP. A stock S4 has 250HP. This one is modded and has turbos from an RS4. The RS4 made 380HP stock and it's not uncommon for tuned cars running those turbos to make 400-450WHP. So, assuming 400WHP or so compared to the STi with more like 250WHP or less, I'm not surprised at all.

Not to mention that the S4 is not a light car by any means. It's giving up around 600lbs to the Subaru so even if they were both making the same power, the STi would likely pull away so the S4 has got to make more power just to stay even. It's not the same difference as you'd see if it were a 300HP Sti vs. a 400WHP STi. As much as I like the STi, I'd still rather have an S4. It's still plenty quick enough for me and a lot more comfortable than any STi.
