well if you look at the numbers, a 545i has 20extra HP, but is down about 10ft/lbs and is $2k more expensive than the Merc. and if you ask me, this car is gorgeous compared with the hideous new 5.
and sorry bro, but these are Mercedes not Lotus. if you dont want luxury you are in the wrong showroom

Looks excellent on the exteriour as well as on the interiour. Quite luxurious. And the engine is quite strong aswell. I guess i would also prefer that over the new 5 series. It just looks better IMO I would also rather take an E55 over the new M5. Isn´t the E55 even faster from 0-60mph?

Nice interior and the speedo/instrument cluster looks beaut, but I don't really like the reddish wood touches. I'd much rather piano black or a deep matte brown finish.

I love the shot above, with the sun's rays dancing off the rear 1/4 surface.
philios55, would you have a larger sized image? I'd love one for my desktop wall paper.
Cheers

hehehe i would say the same to myself, u know
i really prefer those "hard to drive" and furious cars, as lotus, ferraris, some prototypes, i like the car type a racing car, everything manual....i also like some luxury cars, but nothing equal to sports to me.
I prefer many many times a lot of oversteer with some heel and toe correction and a little of g force in my body while going inside a corner instead of going at 50 mph and with the gearbox in the "drive" position.
But it´s a good car indeed....not my prefered, but it´s exelent on it´s main aspects

I think the idea of merc making this E500 is to make a super4door car, and rival the M5 on this class...so it must have elegancy on the interior and exterior... I like this car, you could cruise around the city at normal speed, and when ur out from the city you also could cruise around with abnormal speed...

i would think the E55 would be a more fitting rival for the M5. but still, your point is made and i agree wholeheartedly.

im thinking that its a different car. not all mercs have those hood ornaments on them as not everyone wants it to be stolen. my parents cars have the kind you see on the last cars, where its more of a "badge" than a hood ornament.
edit: now im really confused, its the same house, the car looks to be the same, but there are two different things on the hood. the last 2 pics it is something totally different.
