Super Vtec MINI
Well... I see so many Minis here that I thought to show someone what this little cars are capable of...
Well, this page is from a Mini with central VTEC engine, and rear wheel drive that outperforms a Boxster S!!
http://racetec.net/vtecmini.htm
And if you want to see how a FWD with Vtec Engine handles, I have a video of one at nurburgring, just need 42MB space to host it!

Hehe.. like Sir Alec Issigonis said once... you better have a car where you won't crash easily, than a car where you have lots of safety systems, but handles like hell and will get you killed!

Yes, he has a project like this one undergoing, hasn't he?
Just one thing I don't understand... how do you legalize something like this in UK? Here in Portugal you need some documents with the car company's aproval, and they never aprove such a modification!

Legalizing my mini won't be a problem and same goes with the insurance.. .. I got my own ways dealing with them .. Shhhh..
Yeah I know that this project of mine is a bit crazy.. Some of the guys at the garage say I might need to go to the doctor to have my head checked..lol.. I can't wait for my mini to finish.. I want to do some donuts in it.
possessed_beaver, thanks for the PM

I had an idea like this only with a bike engine.Get one that puts out about 150hp and hook up the tranny like tiptronic it would be like the lotus 7 replica on 5 gear. You would not ruin the handling as much because a bike engine i much smaller and u could fit it in the front. It would be very hard to handle a 280hp RWD car with a 1 meter wheel base. But wats the fun if there is no skill involved.

Wheelbase for a mini is 2.1 meters thank you very much!
A rear wheel drive mini with 280 HP would have just a few problems with snap oversteering I would think.
