i never owned one before and bought a used one for a restoration project
i bought a 1992 griffion edition from a saab employee who had 6 in his driveway and more stored elsewhere. I found many new parts on this 9000 cd and a repair diary longer then any other car i owned. When i started on it i found nothing like it on the web. Thousands of pages of procedures and advice and bb and on and on and on. The following for saab is wild. I post a message on the bb and withing 15 min. I got a responce. And what a suprise i found in the performance. I have and automatic so i thought that took the fun out of the car but was i wrong. This car is fast not just off the line but from 50 to 80 it is fast. 200hp plus a few additions to make it 225 it is just fast and responcive. For a four cylinder engine with a turbo it is bullet proof. Everything about this car is easy to repair engine, cooling system, direct ignition just a great car what a sleeper. If any of you sheet stainers what a car to fix up get a saab.

Saabs are definately some of the most underestimated cars on the market. My mom's first car was a saab and she claims it was the best car to learn to drive manual on. Of course it was my mom so i dont really know how saabs perform although i can say that being ff is definately limiting their possabilities.

Don't get me started with Saab. I know they have their faults (i.e FWD- If I could change that I would) but my family are very happy with the 9-5 Aero estate. Pulling from 40mph-100mph it is one fucking quick car. I know it can't go around a track as quick as a less powerful RWD car, but lets be honest, the people who purchase a Saab are people who spend a lot of time on the motorway/a-roads not the track.

i owned a 88 9000 turbo myself... i loved the car; and i doubt i could find anything like it ever again. performance was suprisingly amazing for the price i paid. perhaps just 165hp, but keeping her between 2800-5500... oh my god!
stable as a rock flying @ 125+mph. the steering was weighted nice, but felt slow due to a little body roll. they dont call it a 'scandanavian flick' for nothing.
that car tought me how to drive.
i had the 5 speed, and let me tell you... there is a big difference when compared to the autobox. but that doesnt detrack from its persona much.
that was my only car to best 30mpg everywhere. with a 17.9 gallon tank, i never filled it up more then 15.5 gallons, which took me in excess of 550 miles each time!
not to mention the great weight bias! ... im sad at its departure

Its made by GM.....so it can't be that good....
at least can't be compared to a German car....

It's owned by GM, not built by them! There's an important difference! Saabs stand out from the crowd, and luckily GM has (to a certain degree) understood that that's a major pluss for a car, and are letting the swedes do some things their way.
The 9-3 Sport Sedan and the Opel Vectra are based on the same chassis, but the Saab gives you better handling and way more driving pleasure than it's German sister.
For a FWD car, a Saab handles pretty neutral. Of course you get loads of under steer if you floor it in a corner, or starts a corner way too fast. I'm talking about smooth, fast driving on twisty roads. It doesn't under steer much when driven properly.
One problem, though: After 1993, when the 900 was reshaped, the suspension has been too soft for my taste, because the american market is important to Saab. Until then, the 900 gave a rather sporty driving experience. In 1993 the driving comfort became more important. Now 9-3 Sport Sedan is making up for it with great driving pleasure, but it's still a bit soft.

I'm just saying that they are not as good as a BMW or a Merc..... :roll:
I think Saab falls in the same category as Opel and VW.....as "Gnome" said....for the
crowd....

i am just saying that if you buy a saab as a new tunner just coming in on the market they are cheap and easy to work on. And the support you get online is more then honda or toyota bb. Saab owners are educated in there cars and dont screw around. Real uptodate info even on late 80s and early 90s big following expecially the 900s

Ive god a friend who owned a Saab 9000 turbo 16 engine with 185bhp, and the car was extraordinaire.....bought in 1993 as far as i know.....and the car gives a lot of good sensations due to a turbo reponse, the built quality and passive safety of it is great, the car handles very well, and the car is very reliable..........its true that the sabb its not consideered as luxurious as any merc, bmw...but for instance any 1988 or so saab 900 or 9000 is as realiable as any merc or bmw

If gm could get the idea that hp comes from more power then cylinders. This saab 9000 i am driving now is sensational. The diving on the highway i blow the doors off of tuners and muscle cars. The expirations on peoples faces it shock as i drive by in my sedan. This is a great starter car too insurance is lower and the car is faster and easier to work on. online b.b. are the best and 80 percent of those who owned a saab buy a saab for the next purchase the loalty is second only to mecedes

the new, i believe 9-3x? is essentially everything my wrx is, except it has a new front and a saab leather interior. same engine, same suspension, same tranny. well, GM does own around 20% of subaru.
damn them!!!!!

Yea, I heard Subaru wasn't very happy with this. There is also a new Saab SUV coming out that is almost exactly the same as a Forester except for the look ofcourse.

HI Guys,
Im new to Saab's to tell me to shut up if im rambling on but,
I just got me misses a Saab 93 convertable 2litre turbo jobbie... And dam that thing shifts.. quicker than i expected it to be given its size as well.. but wish now we went for the 93 aero that looks lovley and secondly its 225bhp..
prob a bit much for the wife though, she yet to learn to drive this one properly.. he he he.. excellent pull in all gears.. yet to check out top end yet but it got to 125mph no problem.. and quickly too...
