Default My V-Mini Project in progress.

Hey guys.. This is my 1991 Mini Cooper. Mostly every body knows that I am crazy about mini.. I always liked this car a lot but one thing about it that I don't like is that their is not that much power in it.. So for the past few months I started throwing the idea around of replacing the engine with a much powerful one and still be very reliable and can be driven daily. The idea of a 1275 mini engine came but was quickly dismissed.

Then came a bike engine idea.. A suzuki Hayabusa engine but reliability was an issue and read alot of problems about the chain brakes and stuff like that.. Then V-TEC came along. Well I loved V-Tec engine powerful reliable and you can get the spare parts very easily and also cheap. But the only negative thing from a V-TEC engine is that we need to extend the nose a little bit. So it was put on hold. I looked for another engine and came up with a toyota starlet engine .. maybe not all of your familiar with it. it's a L4 1.3l turbo charges engine it will fit the mini .. But I did't like it much coz of the lag.. I wanted a N/A engine so I got back to the V-TEC..

To Over some the front extended nose problem I simply places the engine at the back.. making the mini looks stock and RWD . So onces an engine is decided I went out looking for one.. I wanted to get a B16A engine which was 165HP and came with a cable gear .. Long story short. spend 2 weeks searching and did not find one.. I founded a better engine more powerful ... a B18C which is 185Hp and more torque I found it in a 1994 integra.. the car was in a bad shape but the engine was perfect .. I bough the car and took it to the garage only to discover that It got a hydraulic gear box.. I went and out and got my self a b16 cable gear box and hope it works well.. here are some pix.. of the my little project..

New pix will be added as project goes on.
PS: The proof or owership is the key on the roof for both cars the mini and the integra. ohh I forgot to put the key on the nissan but it is mini the supra is someone else but it looked cool.

Nice, very nice, what is that belgium flag doing on that Integra . And tell me how is the sound of a Mini, it looks like such a fine small car. It always reminds me of Mr.Bean...

Ehehhe....it's going to be a nice rocket!!!

And the great thing about the Vtec is that it hasn't much torque, that the Mini couldn't handle!

Keep posting the state of the project!

What evo ?? ..LoL

The truth is I can't take any pix of the Evo right now with the key or manual coz the car is covered up.. Basicly the weather is very very hot and turbo and hot weather don't mix up so the Evo is hybernating thorough out summer under a shaded garage under a cover. And no one want's pix of the Nissan so I won't bother with it .

Mopsdrops, That is not the belgium flag .lol..although looks like it but it's Mugen color thing.

SilviaEvo , well then what if I took some pix of the garage.. No Kidding but they got about 7 R34 GTR and 5 of them are converted to LHD..lol and by the way it will be a B18C not a B18B on the Mini

cooperluke , well some guys at the garage fear the car might flip over at full throttle or at high speed.. So I'm thinking of making some kind of limited top speed.. But tell me about the V-TEC I drove the integra for a while .. it got a mugen header and exhaust and the sound is amazing and pulls like crazy.

I can't wait for this project to end.
Thanks guys for your reply.

I sended a couple of emails to that company if they could supply me the kit but no reply at all so I just gave up on them. One thing I don't like is the gear on that thing.. Look how high it went.. They got a hydrolic gear box.. I would be working on a cable gear box and would have more room.

Thanks for the link anyway.
