i think it was because of the traction as well but the driver wasn't, the term you are looking for is "riding the curb", but he started to spin out b4 he hit the curb, so your point is mute, as well the traction is not that much of a difference on the curb then what it is on the track, other wise you would see race cars spinning out all of the time.
he just didn't control the right amount of gas for that turn and with as much lock as he put into the turn, the car took a bite back at him, and spun him out

Seems to me that he was giving it too much gas when he went through the corner. To make matters worse, there was a crest mid corner. He went a bit sideways, put one wheel in the dirt and the rest was history. Too much gas and a quick change in elevation mid corner caused the mess.
Spinning was inevitable when he started to slide through the corner. The biggest mistake was not getting on the brakes right away. He slid quite a ways before the passenger started yelling "both feet in". So, either he wasn't braking at all or he was braking but didn't push the clutch in.
Either way, he stuffed one expensive car into the wall.

i just watch the video again and he seems to loose control on b4 the curb, at 6secs into the video, you can here the engine rev freely as if the tires had no grip, it seems he tried to go flat out after the first turn in the video put it didn't work, and he was sideways over the curb 1 second later, i don't think if he lost control at the start of the curb he would of spun out where he did,
on the side i was talking about race cars in general, not just f1 almost all race cars ride the curbs of track

Agreed, hes dosent hit the curb before he crashes, he jus pushes the gas before he gets to the apex and therefor misses the apex which sends the car wide, he still accelerates though and was always gonna go on the grass but tries to keep it on the track n ends up spinning it. The grass probably helps the spin on, but he was gone before he touches the grass/curb
