CD Ghost Images, need help.

Hi I need want to create a ghost image of my C: 1.6GB and of my D: 4.5GB.

But i don't want to save them into a Cd but to another partition.
My HDD is 160Gb sata and the partition in which i would save the ghost image to is FAT32 so i could use a boot disk to access it.

I know Norton has software to create Ghost Images not it comes with to much stuff on it.

Do u guys know a very simple, efficient, small programs which would allow me to do this??

Norton has software to create Ghost Images not it comes with to much stuff on it.

They have a much simpler command line version. It works really well.

I'd be interested to know if that works with your raptors ok.. I tried the 2002 version I had but it wouldn't recognize my sata raid array outside windows

This is the problem with software raid. Any time you can have the base hardware deal with the raid configs, the better.

I know that there was software where you would have a floppy and at boot you would just indicate it where the image was and thats it.

Now you get so much crap that u don't need.

There is a dos bootable NOrton ghost which fits on a floopy. It has a nice GUI and its extremly straight forward. I dont have the floppy here but if you dont mind waiting till monday, because I can make a copy of the floppy at work. Dont have one on me.

Thats exactly what I was talking about above. The floppy disc will even work over a lan to format a harddrive on another networked computer.

Just boot both computers witha floppy and give the ip addy of the server and client.

I found this program "Acronis True Image" and it is one of the best ghost image programs i ever came across.

Very easy to use compatible with NTFS and lets u create a bootable CD.
If your PC get damaged or corrupted u just simple insert the CD change the BIOS boot device and that's it. U get a GUI very much like windows and it like plug and play stuff.

I recommend u guys to trying it out.
And its on suprnova.

I tried that one too helius, but it just gave bluescreen errors to me.. I guess because of the sata raid again

I have a sata hard disk also. I did have to change the BIOS settings, for it to work.

My BIOS was configured to have SATA only but to accept PATA also.

But that was giving me problems as the boo cd wouldn't work.
So i just changed the BIOS to accept both channels and i just made the SATA the master and it worked fine.

Maybe i was lucky. I hope it stays that way.
