Default See what happens when CPU cooler is removed

Take a look to this video: http://www6.tomshardware.com/images/...pu_cooling.zip

And see the difference between Pentium processors and AMD without the cooler. The AMD literary BURNS.

Another thing: don't try this at home!!!!

I used to have an AMD Athlon 1400 and it needed a very noisy ventilator. Then when day, after having the comp switched on for 10 hours, my CPU quite simply burned I was also forced to purchase a new motherboard.

Very interesting video, thx for sharing. 'Toms hardware' is a gr8 page.

hehe that's too damn old, I think all of you with Athlons should not be afraid, when this video was shot it was the old generation of Athlons and motherboards, later the issue was remedied completely. Only worry if you've got an old athlon and motherboard, like 2 years old or something

Most motherboards have failsafes for this type of thing anyway. Many of them will shut off on their own at certain temperatures or if the fan fails to work.

mine is working great @ almost 2 years old
not everyone has a new computer every year
to make sure that mine didint totally suck in this amount of time, i got a good upgradable mobo.
next planned upgrades are ram, and video card in that order

firstly: OLD

secondly: Tom's HW released this video about 3 days after AMD refused the new AD contract.

thirdly: have a look at the new cooler for the future Intel CPUs ... LINK.
