You've got a point ,however, it has its downside - the warranty - so if it had to be my daily driver I'd definitely wait for the new stock version.

Yeah, that might be a good idea, esp if it's the daily driver. If you wanted to save even more money though, you could buy a used "current" one (which might not come with a warrenty anyway), and then rebuild and tune the engine - it would probably improve the used engine anyway, plus you'd get all the aformentioned benefits.

There already is a Sports package so I dont see this happening. I think that they will change the design a little maybe not too much. However, I suppose that they will later shift to make the one in the second pic I posted before be the final new GT-R.

Good point. But to counterpoint, this car isn't coming out for another 2 years (supposedly) so they may have just left on the paneling of the G35 and stuck on some aero bits they already have to deter prying eyes while they were working out the kinks in their drivetrain and suspension or w/e.

I think it probably will end up looking fairly similar to this, but you can't discout the other possibilities.

I do hope that the GT-R gets a more butch body that the current G35 bodywork. Even though I like the G35's styling, I don't think it quite suits the next gen skyline.

Oh yeah, and I really hope they change that spoiler. Ugh

@ findleybeast: accourding to the article, this will be available "early 2006 as a 2007 model".

It must be taken in consideration that this GT-R will be called Infiniti GT-R not Skyline GT-R or R-35 36 bla bla, so that leaves space for another GT-R to arrive as the Skyline.

Maybe this GT-R isnt a successor for the current R-34, but just an addition to the Infiniti brand. As if the M wasnt enough New stuff already.

Judging by the figures, this car will kik arse.

P.S. Hope they change the front bumper for the better as that one is not good looking. Same with the spoiler, and for gods sake put some memory seats there already!

@ DeMoN - The G35 is called the Skyline in Japan though, so might it be called the Skyline GT-R there at the very least? Or is the Nissan/Infiniti GT-R label set in stone?

Even if they keep the overall appearance of the G35, I'm just hoping they'll do something to give it a more muscular appearance - more than just giving it a new front bumper and splitter and throwing on a big spoiler and calling it a day. Of course I'm sure they'll at least make those fully functional, but a couple other tweaks and styling cues like the more pronounced wheel arches hinted at in the previous concepts would be very welcome.

BTW has anyone heard any news about the drivetrain? Of course it will be AWD, but any specifics? It seems that an evolved version of the Super HICAS all wheel steering used in the old skyline would be unlikely, given the platform, but hopefully the rest of the system will be up to par with the GT-R legacy?

Why do they insist on making it uglyer and uglyer? The cureent body with some modifications would do fine, not just change the Infiniti around a lil.

People, the G35 Skyline pics are not at all what its going to look like. They put the G35 body on the Skyline engine and chassis, which is shared with the G35, to work on some aero parts and to test the combination. It'll look nothing like the G35 since it'll obviously have a wider stance, hence the wide body parts on the car.
