It's the intardnet RC, why bother coming in here and trashing the thread? Are you trying to win something with your e-dick swinging? Don't feel complete unless you get your quota of irritated remarks?

As far as not making a decent lightweight car, what the fuck do you think they did here? 2,500 lbs is down in 4-banger Mazda MX-5 territory, which is pretty much the lightest mass-produced car this side of an Elise. Regardless of the weights, BMW has been able to provide some very quick cars, even with their 'bmw-hp'. A 3,400lb 330hp M3 gets to 60 in the low 5 second range (~5.3), which is plenty quick for a car that size with a 6-cylinder.

And 10,000's of similar BMWs eh? Yea because BMW has produced so many cars like this, that's why you're bitching about them being slow hairdresser cars (which this isn't).

Man, just do the world a favour and go have your mid-life crisis inside of a Corvette, and let the rest of us live in peace.

The car looks like ass and it is absolutlely pointless. BMW got real lazy with this design.

You make is seem as if putting a big motor into a small car my girlfriend would love all of the sudden makes it an ok car to have.

I've had girlfriends who liked Diablos, does that make them hairdresser cars suddenly? My sister likes classic V8 Mustang coupes a whole lot, guess they're chick cars too.

This won't be a decent light weight car - it's a BMW - by the time production comes around it will be all bloated and overweight - like to 10's of thousands of other "light weight Beemers" - the last time BMW made a light weigth car was in the 1980's

Oh - and in street trim a 3600lb M3 is dog slow..

- and since when did "plenty quick" become a performance car yardstick? It's either class leading or losing

anyway, this old news. Those pics are about 4 years old and was first publiced in a germancarmag called Autobild. The press named it Z5. The project started already 1999.

Z29 is "news" today due to BMW decision to show the prototype to AMS journalists and give them the exclusive statements about the car.

But it was AutoBild who initially reported about Z29 (calling it Z5) back in mid 2002 - they got it right it was a BMW Technik GmbH product carrying lightweight framework (they thought it was all alu), but they were wrong about the engine, and about this being a future production car (Coupe version of Z4).

Well I dont know what yall are all hyped up about, but anyway.

As for the car. It does look pretty bad at first glance, but I think with some meaner fenders and some meaner wheels, it would look pretty nasty. And yeah, those Lambo doors do not need to be on there, but i'm sure its only for conceptual looks.

Also, i do agree with with nick on the performance aspect. IF ......... IF they could make it 2500lbs and 330hp, it would kick ass. POINT BLANK

Just for measures:
That combo would put the car in a 0-60 range of about 4.0 - 4.4 secs (more towards the 4.0).
As for handling, i dont think thats anything to worry about, coming from BMW

Juvenile levels like RC going on about how people are dropping to their knees and sucking BMW? As for 'countless expletives, that was the first thing I had said in that regard, hardly countless (I counted one).
