I think you're right, the Morgan 4/4 started production in '36 and despite a series of revisions (engine, gearbox etc...) is essentially the same car today, and it qualifies for the "production in the same country" thing too RC

The 'vette is certainly enjoying the longest production run in the US as the Jeep doesn't qualify I don't think, as it's switched manufacturers over the course of its production, but the Corvette has gone through more than mere revisions over the course of its life cycle, and at this point is a completely new vehicle compared to the '53.

Blah, the Beetle stayed essentially the same for 65 years. Being produced in the country of origin or not has nothing to do with the legacy of the car and the achievement of 65 years of production.

The changes from '53 C1 to the '06 C6 are much larger than let's say the first 911 to the last one. The Porsche remained much closer to its original design. Only in sheer philosophy I can agree with you the Corvette maintained the same for more than 50 years...and should be praised for it.

However, the winner indeed is the Morgan 4/4, it applies for every rule set in this topic

60 years vs 54 years --- I'll give you that much - but they don't make their own engines and seemed to have never made more than 100 a year

But to say the 911 is more pure than the Vette is not really true - they both have as many changes as the other.

The Vette has remained a fibreglass body on frame 2 door 2 seater front engine RWD sports car, with the only major drive train change being going from straight 6 to V8.

As has been pointed out, the Beetle jsut could not keep up with requirements around the world and the manufacture was moved to less strict locaiotns then even those coutries pulled the plug.

The beetle does not qualify because production moved to south america and it wasn't sold outside of south america.

I would argue the corvette but the one weak thing i have is the fact that there is no 1983 model.

In all rights, i don't think the Suburban was really considered a truck until about 40 years into it's production run, so i would give it to the 'burban

Well, the Corvette started from a straight 6 convertible and evolved to a V8 coupe/convertible, where every 911 uses six-cylinder boxer engines and have the coupe bodystyle. Also, in looks the '64 911 looks a lot closer to the '06 911, than the C1 and the C6 Corvette.

However, it has combined affordability with sports car performance for more than 50 years. That's worth something

I think I remember reading in an April or May issue of Top Gear or Evo, that the longest running models were stuff like the Beetle and then some of the cars in the ex-soviet countries...

It was actually to show which cars had sold the most copies, but in order to sell this much, the car in question needs to be in production for a very long time.
