The tecnology gain in this project will be very useful for future really hardcore supercars.

The Mclaren f1 had leather, air conditioning and a stereo...... and luggage space and an extra seat. What more luxary do you need? And what the hell is this luxury made of to weigh the 800kg difference? I'm pretty sure thats not the reason it's so much heavier.

Stupid amounts of torque means you've got to make the whole drivetrain bullet proof and therefore very heavy - gearbox, clutch, shafts, the lot. Plus its got 4WD, a 8 litre engine and 4 turbos which all need intercoolers etc etc, not hard to see where all the weight comes from, but whats the point when the power to weight is only slightly more than an enzo? Yet in the corners its going to be only half as good, especially that as any downforce it does create will have minimal effects on something that heavy....
And as caneswell said, the Zonda, CCR, McLaren F1, CGT all have luxury interirors and the Enzo has all you could need.....

It might cost the same as a McLaren, but I think most people would rather have the McLaren. I wonder why no one else has tried to make a supercar 3 seats.

A veyron doesn´t have the same objective as the Mclaren.
Mclaren was a supercar designed for performance,in the other hand we have the veyron that was designed to be a compromise between luxury, design and performance.
This compromise takes this car to a level of a SuperGT(Gran Turismo) not to a Supercar level.

400mm front discs according to EVO, doesent state if they are carbon ceramic or not though.
A nice little quote from Dr Bscher:
"The Veyron has a lot to live up to, the McLaren F1 was built to a fantastic standard using the finest possible materials. I'd never claim that we're building a car that will surpass even the F1 in this area"

Define Better....
The EB110 wasn´t the best of them all,but still one of the best cars available in the market when it was launched.

does anybody know the expected production run? i tend to think a sighting of a Veyron will be as rare as a macca.... fewer then 100 in the world makes for a hard target to find.
albiet im not a big fan of this car, im definately interested in it emphatically

first i heard about this car was over 2 years ago in an F1 magazine i think. Then again in Road and Track when they were talking about someone nearly stuffing the only road going prototype at Laguna Seca
i didn't think it was actually goin gto make it to production, but i'm glad it is I have a feeling TT will be on a lifelong mission to capture one when it hits the streets

I've read somewhere they are carbon ceramic and I would be really taken aback if they weren't.

almost every piece of "inside information" i've revealed before on JW has been true in the past. there are people on JW who can testify to this....so no judgement yet. the car hasn't been released
|
^^
i'll say. it also wouldnt be the first time a car had something more (in this case less wieght is more) then what is claimed
also, thanks for the production run numbers... gives me a little more hope to see this car sometime besides an auto show
