Haha, but of course! Were you able to get into that auction for free, or do they have a cover charge?

You could enter only by buying the official catalogue: 50 Swiss francs

well done, amazing photo!

personally I had never the chance to go to Gstaad yet. The village looks very nice, ike Zermatt ( wooden houses with angular roofs).
St.Moritz is not a nice village to look at and it never was compared to Gstaad in this content. There are impressive hotels and beautiful villas in St.Moritz but there are also several big houses with flat roofs which are not that nice.

I found one picture similar to the above posted... to "compare"

so Gstaad wins !!

but ...small advertisment to bring St.Moritz in front ...
see some pictures in
http://www.motorworld.net/forum/showthread.php?t=21124

and one more

(pictures taken from http://www.bergbahnenengadin.ch/021stm_040400_de.htm )

As a ski resort, St.Moritz and the Engadin beats Gstaad and almost every other ski resort in the world by far, I agree to TT opinion above
please understand me right, I'm not talking of the High Society, the "rich" and "famous" people in St.M, the "Champagne-air", the snobs....
I'm a "standard" working-guy which can afford a Seat Ibiza 1.4l Sport

here are the reasons why St.Moritz is that good for skiing
1.) the sun is shining very often
2.) the view (see post)
3.) various slopes, wide ones, steep ones (350km in total)
3.) modern chairlifts and mountain railways (for the 2003 Ski World Championship, they invested a lot of money in the infrastructure)

Have a nice day and keep dreaming of the sun ( it's a foggy day in Zürich)

HAHA, this topic is turning into a Swiss ski resorts advertising and nice to see I am not alone with my opinion about St.Moritz!
You know another thing missing in Gstaad? A lake! St.Moritz has one, and several others in the region, just some minutes away by car, and to walk on the ice during winter, or simply around it during summer is very nice!

I don't like skating LOL, so the answer is no even if I am not 80 years old, I prefer a good old walk
