Default Photos from GT meeting at Oulton Park

Guys,

I know I have previously had requests for high res pics, but no time tonight, these are as I posted on another forum, so 800 x 600. I think you'll enjoy for the time being.

Here are some photos I took at the British GT/F3 meeting on Saturday, it was actually qualifying day but there was to be a one hour GT race at the end of the day, this would be round one of the championship.

There are two classes in the British GT Championship - GT3 & GT4, This is the GT3 Aston Martin DBRS9 of Tom Alexander and Michael Bentwood

The GT4 class is for cars more related to road cars, so much so, that this car came complete with tax disc and number plates, imagine this pulling up next to you at the lights.

Obviously, this championship requires money to compete in, hence the rather classy car park. Hey, that car next to the two Bentleys, isn't that......

.....the fastest, most expensive road car in the world

W16 8.0 litre, quad turbo, 1000bhp. An engineering masterpiece.

Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale

Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera

Meanwhile, qualifying was not going well for some, although the track was dry, it was very cold yesterday and I'm not sure that the slicks were working too well.

The VW Racing Cup is part of this championship, it is open to all, including vans!

Some famous names in the paddock

Maserati, but not sure what model, not seen one before?

If you spend your weekends away from home, you may as well do it in style

Amazingly, this was the only Porsche at the meeting.

Scooby Doo and the mystery machine, now there's a coincidence

Ferrari took the top three grid places, and finished 1-2-3

During the GT race, I was to witness the biggest accident of my spectating life, a Ginetta went off at Dentons (I'm told it was a Ginetta, you couldn't tell after) It was very scary, the car vaulted into the air and landed heavily on the armco. Such was the ferocity of the crash, I thought to myself , he is not going to get out of this alive, then to everyones horror the car burst into flames, the photos below don't tell the full story, there were flames shooting up in the air, the marshalls did the best they could with their fire extinguishers but until the fuel burnt off, it was hopeless, it seemed like forever , then there was a thick black cloud, everybody was just totally stunned. Incredibly the next noise was the crowd clapping, the driver managed to free himself, very lucky guy.

You can see bodywork from the car on the left of this shot, there was debris flying everwhere.

Awesome photos! Love the color combo on the Veyron. These meets incite pure jealousy in me.
Great news that the driver made it out alive!
Gran Turismo looks awkward from that angle - but yet looks great from some others?

What a nice paddock!! I love the Veyron of course, and the Terrawind motorhome (is it a Terrawind even?).

I'd definitely appreciate if you'll have some time to post higher res later on

Wow, what an incredible thread. Some great pics in that lot. That crash certainly looks quite scary!

You guys really don't know how lucky you are there in the 'real world', being able to go to events like this.

And not to be completely pedantic or anything but:

.....the fastest, most expensive road car in the world
I think the Veyron's been done in the 'fastest car' stakes, something new from the US as I recall? certainly still the most expensive though.

That wasn't the only crash of the day, one of the Lambos rolled on the first lap.

Here is a slideshow of the crash
