Now granted their is spec miata where you have to build a car to spec.. But other then that a Cathram is just about outlawed from every major class other then unlimited, which puts you in a class with drivers so good youd never be able to compete.
Not to mention comparing modded to stock cars is a little unfair.

good point. When we were autocrossing the civic, the only mod we did to the car was adjustable shocks at all 4 corners, to keep it in the stock class, because once you go into the modified class, you get people spending alot of money on a car, and stripping the interior, as we were using the Civic as a daily driver. I was just thinking using them for fun track-day cars, and going out and flogging them at an auto-x occasionally.
Your also right about stock vs. modded, but for the money, for a stock car I would get a used S2000 or a new miata for a 2-seat roadster to flog at a track or an auto-x.
