Professionals always make everything look easy. Surfing, especially at that caliber, is very difficult.
And not only that, you've got to get over your fear of getting slammed into sharp coral.. oh yea, and drowning..
I went surfing once couple of summers ago in Hawaii.. waves weren't that big but the few that I caught were great. You get an amazing sense of power from the ocean.
I cant imagine the feeling this guy must of had when riding that powerful wave.

kinda strange they are saying it's the larges most 'uber' wave they have ever seen being ridden. i have a National Geographic issue here (from 1998 lol) where there are pictures of bigger waves with riders.
maybe it's not the same though as it seems like in the NG the boards have bindings like waterskis or snowboards.
the video is still very impressive!

Laird Hamilton is the shit, plain and simple. I grew up surfing and it is not easy especially at a spot like Chopu. Huge, powerful waves and sharp coral directly beneath.
There have been larger waves though. There is a spot that sits in the middle of the ocean (forget its name) where they do a lot of big wave contests and the waves there are massive. I think a lot of people see this as the best wave because of its perfect shape and the way Laird rides it, but I dont know. Either way, damn impressive.
