ILM is the biggest special effects company in Hollywood. George Lucas practically has a monopoly on the industry thanks to it. He also owns THX. But that just comes with having made the biggest trilogy in movie history

Well since you dug up a dead topic I'm going to take the opportunity to say that this is the first time I read this thread and I found out tonight that Michael Bay is directing the movie and it made me really upset.
I was told that this movie was going to kick ass.
Michael bay makes seriously lame movies.

Michael Bay is actually perfect for this type of film. Bay is known for big action and big explosions. That is exactly what everyone wants to see these giant robots surrounded by. I hope you guys weren’t expecting an engaging story to accompany a film about giant talking robots. It is a given that the story will suck.
As far as the changes to the vehicles; they had to be made, with a few exceptions. Since this film is set in today’s time and not the 80s, it makes logical sense for characters like Optimus (except for those damn flames), Starscream, etc, to use the vehicles of this era. Now Bumblebee on the other hand should have stayed a Volkswagen Beetle since those are still made today. Megatron now being a Jet…that is just wrong. There is a rumor of an earth specific form for him, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.

^I hate Michael Bay too, but him doing the Transformers the Movie might just work.
As for Volkswagen, well...they don't like their cars portrayed as "war machines".
I can't wait for the movie though, so many pretty machines, A10s, Ospreys, etc...

I do vaguely remember reading about that.
