FSO Polonez
The FSO Polonez is a Polish automobile that was produced
from 1978 to 2002.
http://www.lotnisko.net/fso/polonez/polonez3d.jpg
|
Essentially the car was a rebodied Fiat 125, which FSO built under licence from Fiat, as the 125p. The internal components (engine, chassis, other mechanicals) were straight from the Polski Fiat 125p, clothed in a modern (for the time) hatchback body.
|
Over the years, the Polonez range would encompass a wide range of bodies. These included:
- Hatchback (as originally introduced)
- Sedan
- Wagon (sold in some markets as the FSO Caro)
- Pickup
- Extended Pickup
- Service Vehicle
- Ambulance
Engine:
- During the mid-90's a Citroen 1.9 69 HP - diesel engine was introduced to the range, and in various forms, the car was sold across mainland Europe. Various facelifts were made, to keep the car looking 'fresh'
- 1.4 103 HP (rover engine)
- 1.5 (1481 cm3) 82 HP,
- 1.5i (1481 cm3) 75 HP,
- 1.6 (1598 cm3) 87 HP
- 1.6i (1598 cm3) 76 -77 HP),
- 1.6 GSI (1598 cm3) 84 HP (I had it some time ago )
Interestingly, in the late 1980's, a batch of 150 Polenez hatchbacks were exported all the way to New Zealand. They were also exported to Chile from the late 80īs to early 90īs.
Its production eventually ended, 24 years after it began, due to the basic car being an old design, which would not meet EU legislations. The Polonez is a common sight in ex-Eastern Europe, partucularly in its home country, Poland.
In some countries FSO Polonez is sold as FSO Celina.

Stratopolonez...
250 km/h
0-100 km/h: 5 s
100l/100km
front Michelin Racing 17/63-15 - 230-15
rear Michelin Racing 29/61-15 - 350-15
I should change the pool:
