Tron - originally "rice burner" was the term for any japanese motorcycle - coined by the British and Italian bike riders of yore.

These days it has other car connotations that as you see have varied meanings.

BTW yes there can be Fast and Slow rice. Rice depends on how the car looks, not how fast it is. I believe that ANY civic with added anything is rice. You sure can make them fast, but that doesnt excuse their fartcan exhaust and stickers and VTEC badges etc etc.

so if the car came with Vtec from the factory and has the factory Vtec badge on the back that is rice? or someone putting in a much bigger than factory engine and having a decent sized not even showing exhaust is rice? or just having a decent 2.5" tail pipe that actually sits flushwith the bumper and actually gives some performance is rice? just because it is on a civic? low 13 second civics that look stock other than an exhaust pipe that is still smaller than on my Thunderbird yet larger than factory is rice?

^ stock looking civic running 13 secs may not be rice... Remember rice also signals interior. If biig ass gages are found inside, then sorry but yep rice. If only functional things and stock looking, I'd say a toy lol.

they are both 100% functional only cars the one has a Tach on it but it is the smallest he could find and it is mounted down in the dash board not up on top the reason is because the car was originally an Automatic and didn't come with one. hell one car is half primer because he is just now starting to fix the exterior (had some honda cancer)

i agree that rice is part quality, as well as part tackiness and a lot of function-less add ons.
so, the car above gets points off for the wing and the hood vents but far from the worst i've ever seen. i still havent decided if it is rice yet.

I tend to define a ricer as an appearance descriptor. If a stock car has lots of non-performance add-ons, like decals, ridiculously loud mufflers, wings, spoilers, over-sized body kits, weird rims etc. it's a ricer. However, a performance car can be excused for having a large spoiler, for example, mainly because you would assume that it is necessary for road-holding purposes.

The car in question is OK, except for the wing on the back.
