Yeah, 20 is getting up there. I've always said I could get by on a studio apartment with an 8 car garage....

If I had an unlimited suppy of money to back up my spending habits, I would probably have around 30 cars.

When I was younger, I used to maintain a list of 20 cars that I would buy if I had the money ... and it required a lot of money as the GTO, Bug Royale and some other big ticket items were on it.
Right now, I would like to have 4 cars in my garage
- BMW M5
- Ferrari 288 GTO
- Ferrari 550 Maranello
- Ferrari Challenge Stradale
And that's it.
I think rather than having 20 cars and driving 500 miles a year on average (10,000 miles by 20 cars), I would be able to do 2000 miles on each car assuming even rotation. It would be good to be friends with others with different interesting cars and trade cars for a weekend or so ... Magwheels for instance.

For DD i would have prob. about 3, a sports car, a luxo sedan, and an all weather something. But for the special days or events I would have around 5-10 and i would prob. change them on a 1-3 year basis. unless i really really love it

the sky is the limit.
of course I would only use one or two cars for work days, and another 2 or 3 for the weekends.
but I'd say that n-1 (n=number of great, fancy, super, rare, extreme, fun, sporty, etc cars)

If unlimited resource (i.e. w/ someone making sure everyone is in running condition), 20 it is. If it is only myself, then 5 would prolly be a good number.
hmm....maybe this 5 would do
996 GT3 3.8 conversion
575M
Brabus Rocket (CLS)
Range Rover
Nowack M5 E39
*Edit* Almost forgot
S8 5.2

I'm aiming for a 12 car garage. 11 for me. one for my wife (soon to be...hopefully...)
Some of them would be customs but others would be frame off restos or some kind of collectible.

Well, ask Jay Leno how he has managed to narrow his focus down to the best 100 or so cars...
