Civic Help!

lo peeps!

1. ok so today i chagned the oil in my honda civic.

and i got really scared couse i dunno how many U.S. quarts to put!

i put 4 outta the 5 quarts that i baught. but i dunno if i should put more or not.

its a 1.6 litre engine.

2. so then i add power steering fluid. there was almost zero fluid in the entire system. so i put like 1/2 quart or 3/4q (what ever the standered size is. and it car makes REALLY funny noises when i turn the steering wheel. i can fele that the steering is super soft now. the harder i turn, the more noise it makes. so i open the hood, to find that all the fluid i put in has soaked into the system. and its nearly at te bottem.

so now my question is. do i go bak to shucks n get another 1/2 quart of fluid? or is it couse of the air in the system. if so how do i bleed the system?

oil should be about 4.25-4.50 qts. check the level on the dipstick after starting it and letting it fill the filter. shut it off and wait about 30 seconds and then check the stick. if it's just under the hatch marks, add a quarter quart and check again until the level is half way up the hatch.

power steering: fill the reservoir to max, start the engine and turn the wheel lock to lock 30 times or until the groaning noise goes away. The groan is the pump sucking air.

If the fluid gets sucked out of the res, stop the engine, fill the reservoir again and repeat until the fluid stays. Then try and find the leaking hose(s) and replace them.

i went and baught more power steering fluid when you answered my post. n i added it again, n now its flawless n makes absolutly 0 sound.

and for the oil. well, i added 2/5 ofa quart more. now its mucho perfecto =D

y do u think i got a car that get 30-35 mpg? =D

Glad to hear you got your problems sorted out dude.

BTW you can easily get that Civic down to low 20s MPG if you try hard enough!

Try joining some Civic forums, you can probably find a Civic service manual to download if you look hard enough and ask people politely.

if i put intake its +mpg
if i put exhaust its +mpg
if i put turbo(low boost) its +mpg
i dun relaly know anything else that will lower it
