Default Reason for moving B-Days to a special forum?

I understand there may be valid logic behind some more defined forums... but should birthdays be squirreled away like that?

I would have though that is one of the regular posts that you would want in the main spot light - I mean we take the time to wish folks - why hide the wishes away?

*shrug*

Just thinking out loud?

(hopefully we won't get too many sub-forums - can sometimes be a burden to check all the ones of interest, and you find people becoming more compartmentalized rather than generally interested and involved)

I'm with RC... I believe we're having too much forums and subforums, but hey... those are my 2.5 cents

why not having one and only forum???

And call it "The Book of Lists".

With no search function, and 3 standard topic title choices..

Yep - it was just random musing out loud.. Overall every change y'all have made to JW has been for the better...

(while on the topic of "changes for the better" - has the Video Upload service been disabled/changed/removed or is it just me and my screwed up PC that can't pull off uploading a teeny tiny video file?)

To a point.... when there is about 1000 posts to go through, it gets a bit silly.

The sub-forums may tidy up the main forums, but i don't think the B-days should have been moved.

And the breaking news section is also a little wierd being split into it's different topics... but hey, lets see how things pan out. We have to experiment... thats what makes it fun

all the new subforums is making my head spin i didn't mind b-days being in general chat personally. I think the Breaking news section is going to get a wee bit cluttered though.

I forsee alot of "wrong section" topics in the near future

i like the idea of putting up the B-day forum... it becomes limited really to those of the JW core members, and easy to just find that person's happy b-day, and re-use it...
i think of that like a little time capsul forum.

JW member breaking news seems a little more... limited in functionality to me...and also limited traffic, lets say 'subject: im getting married!!! or "my baby son was just born!!!' or 'i just moved in :-|" might only get fewer views/responses.

aslo, what then gets conglomerated into 'general chat' with so many subforums... mabey just rename it 'non-catagorized chat'

just my 2 cents
99.99% of everything here @JW has IMO been improving, and better then ever, so even with the gripes of some peeps, i think we ought to try it out for a month, and force the newbs into 'wrong section' talk (or mabey some core members)

I think lots of people will not notice BDay topics if its not a gen chat, cause probable not all use "view new posts" as I didnt for a looooooong time and "dicovered" it after a looooong while, but most of people do come to Gen Chat.

I think too many forums will confuse alot of posters including me ops: so it will just add more work to the mods I think

The breaking news section had been requested many times in the suggestions forum...seems like we might be moving the birthdays back though...
