Default A Vette Win in FIA GT

The nr 6 GLPK Carsport Corvette became the fourth different car from four races to win in this season of the FIA GT Championship, when a magnificent race saw Hezemans, Kumpen and Longin take the win, ahead of Lamy and Gardel in the Larbre Ferrari, and Biagi/Babini in the nr 10 Vitaphone Maserati

It's still kicking ass. Truth is, the C5R has recieved many updates recently, it's right on pace with the C6R's. I'm not surprised they have taken a race in FIA, I doubt it'll be the last either.

The great thing about the C5R is that is based on the C5 road car.. the C6 Z06 was based on the C6 race car prototype and the C5R race car - shows how great of a platform the C5 was to begin with

Too bad Bob Lutz is a fucking ass, and never heard of the phrase if it aint broke dont fix it. The C5 is so much sexier than the C6. Plus we no longer have the FRC Z06.

Oh I agree, its a stunning chassis, talking to the simbin physics guys they say its has one of the best if not the easiset cars to handel on the track.

I just though RC is going to say that "yeah this is the old C5R the C6R is going to be so much better" Which its not.

How many times over how many years have I heard about a model and how it shouldnt have been changed cause it wasn't broke?

Ironically alot of these designs grow on people but are viewed as out there cause there not use to it. As people get use to them they become more acceptable and opinions change.
f50, enzo, 360, all come to mind.. though Im still waiting for that to happen with bmws bangle styling lol

Just came across this:

from Dailysportscar.com

The chassis is one of the two Corvette Racing C5-Rs which won the ALMS GTS Class last year."This Corvette benefits from the latest 2004 developments," explains Bert Longin, "which means that it will be equipped with latest-generation Xtrac sequential gearbox, as well as the latest engine development and the most efficient aerodynamic package. With a car like that, I’m sure we can lay claim to a prominent place in the FIA GT championship. In the course of its career, the C5-R has won everywhere it has gone, whether in ALMS or at the Le Mans 24 Hours. It is the first time that such a car will be involved in the FIA GT, and we are very confident. I even think it is the only serious rival for the Maserati MC12…"
