that flew right past me.
Are you asking which car it better to get ? The S3 will be more powerfull hence the "S", but the A3 will cost less.
besides car prices vary from one country to another. Be a little bit more specific with your question.

i think the question u r asking is pretty pointless ??
where does M3 fit in when 330ci is just as fast in a straight line, goes the same with S4 and S6??
the obvious difference will be more sportier handling, look and most of the time gearbox

The S3 is supposed to be powered by either a 3.2l turbocharged V6 putting out 330hp or a 2.5l turbocharged I5 (derived from the V10) with a similar output.

As far as i know from a magazine that had an article on the new S3 it is going to have the 3.2L engine twin turbocharged and will be producing 350HP. 4wd,mighty looks with 4 exhaust pipes on the back and an equivalent high price(a lot more that the standard 3.2 A3).
Ofcourse this info is taken from a magazine so dont take my word for it. I am telling you what i read.

thanx bullet for that info, now it makes sense about the S3. The current A3 3.2 is faster than the Old S3?

I've heard/read the same but this one concerned the RS3 (as far as I know) which now seems to to cancelled.

MV you are correct. The article was about the RS3. My bad and sorry for misleading any of you. The fact is that there isn't going to be any new S3 except for the RS3,as far as i know, so with this thought on mind i jumped and talked about the RS3. Again my bad and i am very sorry guys.
As far as the new A3 being faster than the old S3 i would say yes. The old S3 was turbo and the Turbo lag was quite "Noticable". I have raced against old S3 and new A3 and the A3 made a lot bigger of a distance. +the new A3 has more torque but i dont know about weight.

That's the thing...the weight on the front axle, hence no wonder some info indicated that the new S3 was to be powered by a 2.0l either turbocharged or turbocharged-supercharged (nice combo ) to make it weigh less
As to the turbo-compressor combo it appears that VAG tends to adopt it in a remarkable way...the range is said to begin with a 1.4l developing 140hp but that's probably a bit far-fetched.

Well, forget about the A3, S3, RS3 in power terms because Beemer has put a great 190kw engine in a UGLY shell.
ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS POWER TO THE HATCH!
